Megan Wilcox is the founder of SobahSistahs, a rapidly growing alcohol-free community designed to help women rethink their relationship with drinking and build supportive social connections around sobriety.
Her work focuses on a cultural dynamic many women recognize but rarely question: the normalization of “mommy wine culture,” where alcohol is framed as a reward for surviving the pressures of work, parenting, and modern life.
For years, Megan’s own drinking looked ordinary from the outside. But following a difficult divorce, alcohol slowly became a nightly coping mechanism. Something she used to manage stress, loneliness, and the emotional upheaval of starting over. Over time, she realized that moderation rules and attempts to cut back weren’t solving the underlying problem.
When Megan decided to stop drinking, she began documenting her experience online as a way to stay accountable. What started as a personal journey quickly resonated with thousands of women who saw themselves in her story — women who didn’t necessarily identify as “alcoholics,” but who felt trapped in a cycle of drinking that no longer served them.
That response led Megan to create SobahSistahs, an international community built around the idea that sobriety doesn’t have to be isolating or restrictive. Through group coaching, online meetings, and alcohol-free retreats around the world, the community helps women support one another as they explore life without alcohol.
Today, SobahSistahs has grown into a global network centered on empowerment, accountability, and connection. Megan’s approach emphasizes that people don’t have to reach a traditional “rock bottom” to question their relationship with alcohol... they simply have to want something better.
In Please Drink Responsibly, Megan brings the perspective of someone working directly with women who are reexamining drinking culture in real time, showing how community, identity, and social norms shape the choices people make about alcohol.
